Students can earn chance to woo creative industry over dinner
TORONTO—Students can earn a chance to share some food for thought over dinner and drinks with prospective employers in the creative field this April.

The Ad Lounge Next Gen Dinner Series is scheduled to take place in Toronto on April 3, putting eager students together with executives from ad agencies, mobile application development shops, design firms and more.

But in order to get a chance to woo employers, students must first impress an Ad Lounge committee and its recruiting partner Boost Agents.

Post-secondary students studying marketing, communications, advertising or design can complete an application by Feb. 2; the candidates will be reviewed, shortlisted, and invited to an interview, with successful applicants notified on or before March 12.

The application requires students to share their accomplishments and talk about why they are inspired by the industry, along with a number of other questions right down to favourite television show, movie or book.

It's not an easy task to secure a seat at the free dinner; Trina Boos of Ad Lounge said last year 150 students applied, with 63 of them winning a place at the event. This year it is expected that up to 300 will apply, with the same number as last year to make it through.

More information about the event and a link to the application can be found here.

I had the chance to do this last year and it made a world of difference for me. If you're a student, do it!
