Digifest 2018 will be held at the waterfront in Toronto, Canada from April 26-28. The annual three-day event features a technology festival and events spotlighting startups, and is organized by the Digital Media and Gaming Incubator at George Brown College.
This year’s theme, Hello Tomorrow: Our Creative Cities, will feature examples from around the world of ways in which cities have utilized technology to confront pressing issues and challenges in emerging urban areas with a view towards helping cities of the future be more creative through better utilization of technology, design and innovation.
Digifest 2018 will highlight achievements and advancements in the fields of art, communications, education, fashion, food and the bringing together of thought leaders, students, designers and entrepreneurs.

- Inspirational Speakers
What kinds of impact will emerging technology have on the way we live and communicate with one another, and how we work together, and how we travel? These themes will be addressed and broadened through talks by speakers such as: Dana McCauley (Food Industry Leader), Navid Nathoo (Technology Educator), Norman White (Artist and Educator), Jonathan Moneta (Design Engagement Expert), Claudia El-Moor (Brand Design Expert), Jenna Pilgrim (Blockchain Expert), and more.
- Digifest Kickoff — Meet the Media Guru
This event serves to create a bridge built upon forward thinking ideas originating between thinkers and visionaries from Italy and Canada. This year’s media guru, George Lupi, is an award-winner in the field of digital media.
- The Digifest Digital Pioneer Award
This award recognizes Canadians who have made significant contributions in the area of digital media. This year’s winner, Norman White, is renowned as a pioneer in the field of art and robotics.
- Interactive Zone
On display in this exhibit are some of the leading current ideas and technologies impacting emerging cities around the world.
- It’s a Start — 2018 Pitch Competition
At this exhibit attendees will have the opportunity to meet the top ten up and coming startups. Finalist in this competition will be presenting their innovative projects, products or services as they seek to take home the Grand Prize.
- Student Showcase
Some of the best work from emerging talent to be found in North America’s post-secondary institutions will be on display.
- Food Tech Pop Up at Family Day
The first ever event, the Digifest Food Tech Pop Up, celebrates those who are exploring and advancing sustainable food options.
