Studiothink, a Surrey-based branding agency co-founded in 1997 by Chandra Blouin and Sherry Jacobi, has acquired the award-winning Thornley Creative. These two amazing full-service firms, which specializes in branding and web design services, will be under one roof serving the Greater Vancouver Area.
An Unrivaled History
These two firms have a combined 50 years of experience in the branding and marketing industry. Thornley Creative specialized in not-for-profits and municipalities while Studiothink concentrated in technology, tourism, property, and manufacturing.
Strategic growth, a business model espoused by Chandra and Sherry, is the reason behind Studiothink’s exponential success. Since its inception in 1997, they have developed impactful messaging campaigns, proving themselves as one of the top creative agencies in the field.
Thornley Creative, founded and directed by Chris Thornley, opened its doors in 1989. His one firm grew into an award-winning boutique agency and his exceptional company had been running strong for 30 years, making it difficult for him to walk away. Chris delayed retirement, not wanting the good times to end.
Reasons Behind the Merger
Chris built a legacy for himself at Thornley Creative. When the time came to pass the torch, Studiothink was the perfect fit. They had an amicable relationship for several years while existing in different markets.
Studiothink whose company’s mission and values were deeply aligned with his own, became the ideal partner. He didn’t want his superb team of creative professionals to be dismantled or left in incapable hands.
Chris also wanted to remain active within the company after stepping down by continuing to provide support, guidance, and insight. He decided to fulfil the role as Studiothink’s Ambassador to local communities and team events as this would be the ideal role for him.
The combined experience of these two dynamic agencies serves to expand the tremendous amount of value and service they’re now able to provide to their clients.
Chandra saw growth at the core of Studiothink’s business models and she couldn’t resist the opportunity to partner with Chris, as both a team and company through the acquisition of Thornley Creative. The merger makes Studiothink more diversified, with an assortment of creative services now offered.
Thornley Creative has worked with some reputable municipalities and not-for-profits. They branded the Cloverdale Rodeo as well as the City of Surrey itself. Their projects include the Surrey Board of Trade, the Homelessness and Housing Society and the Surrey Food Bank.
Studiothink’s reach is far and wide. Here’s a snapshot of just a few of the companies they have collaborated with:
- The vinyl decking brand – Valordek.
- The professional services company – Janzen Insurance.
- The innovative tech firm – Smartshow.
With such a broad and striking portfolio between these two formidable companies, both sides are optimistic about this merger and are looking forward towards the future.
