Earth Paws is a Canadian company that specializes in pet treats which are completely natural. They are proud to introduce their new line of dog treats that brings a sobering perspective to pet ownership. Their new dog treats are exclusively cooked in a hot car, not an oven. They hope to bring awareness to negligence that is unfortunately all too common.
“Hot Hounds are a limited-edition ‘brand’ of dog treats, made with 100% natural and organic ingredients, that were baked inside a car during the Summer, where internal temperatures can reach up to 158 degrees Fahrenheit/70 degrees Celsius which is hot enough to bake a treat — and to kill a dog.”
The logo features a dog’s face with flames surrounding it and ominous ‘Xs’ over the dog’s eyes. The treat itself features the same design baked into it. The logo is striking with an equally striking message to match it. It leads you in with a friendly face but then brings your attention to something to be taken very seriously.
Earth Paws worked with Rethink Canada. Rethink is an independent creative agency that specializes in strategy, social media, design and product innovation. In their own words:
“We’re a completely owner-operated shop. We’re only accountable to ourselves and our clients – and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re a naturally collaborative bunch who know how to come together and get things done. We know that the most powerful solutions often come from unlikely places, so we continually rethink how to best serve our clients.”
Rethink has offices in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. They’re a bilingual agency that joined the ICOM network of independent agencies in 2018. They also won the Digital Agency of 2018 from Strategy Awards and are consistently noted in lists of top agencies serving the Canadian audience. They’ve worked with brands such as Ikea, Westjet, Craft, Heinz and now Earth Paws and Hot Hounds.
Not only does this product aim to bring awareness to a cause, they’re also helping financially. The proceeds from these limited edition treats were sold to help benefit the British Colombia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. In a statement from the company itself, “Hot Hounds was founded by dog people, people who love dogs and want to support other dog owners. But the real client here is man’s best friend, their very lives revolve around us and the attention we give them.”
