Designers across North America are looking forward to participating in another rewarding exchange of creative design ideas at this year’s RGD Future By Design – Toronto, a series of webcasts taking place from 6-8 p.m., EST, on Tue., April 24, 2018 at Entro at 33 Harbour Square, Suite 202 in Toronto. With roots going back to 1956, RGD, The Association of Registered Graphic Designers represents almost 4,000 Canadian designers, including owners of design firms, to freelancers and students. RGD Future By Design – Toronto is a virtual event with cities throughout Canada and North America invited to host screenings of live presentations featuring guest panelist who will encourage a sharing of thoughts on a variety of design topics.
Featured panelists at this year’s RGD Future By Design are Lara McCormick, an expert on design and typography, Paddy Harrington, who specializes in branding and strategy in design, and Michelle Cortese, Product Designer at Facebook.
Lara McCormick is Creative Director at the Exploratorium. Her work has been featured in many design publications, and she is a two-time recipient of the Sappi’Ideas that Matter award.
Paddy Harrington is the founder of Frontier. He holds academic degrees in both literature and architecture and is an award-winning writer and filmmaker.
Michelle Cortese, who holds a master’s degree in emerging interactive technology, is a refined visual communicator and a proficient programmer.

Among the topics to be discussed is one that should be of concern to all designers everywhere: As elements of Artificial Intelligence that is utilized in design functions continues to grow in acceptance and application, designers may need to be the leaders in a coming revolution against technical entrepreneurs to ensure that creativity in design is protected as a vital and preferred component of design.
How to Host a Local Screening of RGD Future By Design – Toronto
Cities throughout Canada and North America are invited to host a Future By Design discussion group during the webcast. Here’s what you’ll need in order to be a host:
- A computer and a reliable Internet connection with an optional webcam.
- A large screen and adequate speakers to facilitate the display of the webcast.
- A venue that is large enough for a group of 20 or more participants.
Host venues will work closely with RGD to make sure the event is successfully promoted via email and social media, conduct a review of the sites technical set-up to ensure connectivity is fully functional, manage giveaways and refreshments provided by RGD, and serving as the facilitator for group discussions and question and answer periods at your venue.
